Turkey is blessed with
some of the most superb beaches.
The
main ones are listed below. If you would like a quieter
place to wind down and soak up that Hisarona sun then head
out
either west or east of the town and there are iidyllic tranquil
beaches to be found. If you need help in finding them then
ask one
of the locals in the bars or restaurants to
point you in the right direction and you'll soon find a tiny
gem of a beach to get away from it all away from the crowds.
Olu Deniz
This wonderful beach is situated in a conservation area so
high rise hotels and all that comes with them are not allowed.
Surrounded on 3 sides by superb mountain scenery and with
a National Park at one end (small entrance fee) this is
a pretty much perfect place. The beach itself is part fine
shingle and part pebbles and there are lots of water activities
here. Canoes and pedalos, water sking, scuba diving and
snorkelling and para sailing. There is a camping area where
if you want you can spend a night under canvas, under the
stars - fantastic. There are bars, restaurants and lots
of music and entertainment on offer.
Katranci
A quieter beach than Olu Deniz situated in a very beautiful
bay. During the Summer months there is a camping area
with showering facilities. To get to the beach a car is
required it's on the road between Fethiye and Mugla. The
beach is backed by some beautiful forests of pine and eucalyptus
and the beach itself is of fine sand.
Kidrak
Go East from Olu Deniz beach and you'll come across this beach. The beach itself
is of shingle is a very popular camping area for tourists and locals alike.
This beach is such a great area but seems never to be crowded. Somewhere to
get to if you want to get away from the crowds and have a place to unwind and
soak up that sun.
Gunluklu
Get here by car and you'll find a quiet peaceful beach
missed by the tourists and frequented by the Turkish themselves.
Like Katranci It's on the road between Fethiye and Mugla.
This beach is a great place to unwind and let lifes cares
drift away. Treat yourself to a late night under the stars
with a few friends and a bottle or 2 (none for the driver!)
and you'll have a great memory of your holiday.
